What Is DTF Printing?
DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing is a method where your design is printed onto a special PET film, coated with a fine adhesive powder, cured, and then heat-pressed onto the garment. The result is a vibrant, full-colour print that bonds to the fabric and works on cotton, polyester and blended materials without pre-treatment.
Because the design is printed digitally, there are no screens to set up. That makes DTF ideal for detailed logos, photographic artwork and multi-colour designs, whether you need one personalised shirt or a full run of branded merchandise.

Artwork Guidelines
- Send high-resolution files: PNG with a transparent background, PDF, AI, EPS or SVG.
- For best results, supply artwork at 300 DPI at the size you want it printed.
- Remove any background you do not want printed.
- No design? Our team can help create one from your idea or logo.
Caring for DTF Prints
- Wash inside out at 30–40°C.
- Avoid bleach and harsh detergents.
- Tumble dry on low, or line dry.
- Do not iron directly on the print. Iron inside out on low heat.
DTF Printing FAQs
What is DTF printing?
DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing transfers a full-colour design printed on PET film onto fabric using adhesive powder and a heat press. It produces bright, detailed prints on cotton, polyester and blended fabrics.
Is DTF printing good quality?
Yes. DTF prints capture fine detail and gradients, stay vibrant, and remain flexible on the garment. With the right care, they resist cracking, fading and peeling.
Does DTF printing wash well?
DTF prints are made to be washable. For the longest life, wash inside out at 30–40°C, avoid bleach and do not iron directly on the print.
What fabrics can you DTF print on?
We DTF print on cotton, polyester and cotton-poly blends, including t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, jackets, sportswear, tote bags and caps.
What is the difference between DTF and DTG printing?
DTG prints ink directly into the fabric and works best on cotton. DTF prints onto film first and is then heat-pressed, so it works on a wider range of fabrics, including polyester.
Can I order a single DTF printed item?
Yes. DTF has no screen setup, so we can print single custom pieces as well as bulk orders for teams, events and businesses.
How long does DTF printing take?
Turnaround typically ranges from 3 to 7 business days, depending on order size and customisation. Express options are available, so contact us if you have a deadline.
What file format should I send?
High-resolution PNG with a transparent background, PDF, AI, EPS or SVG files work best. Ideally supply artwork at 300 DPI at print size.
